Over the coming weeks the pale pink flowers of Clematis will be seen climbing up walls, scrambling over arches and bringing a splash of delicate colour to the Summer garden.
Clematis Montana is just one of the many species available in this large family of mainly climbing deciduous or evergreen plants. Clematis are ideal for covering walls, fences and unsightly outbuildings or also for scrambling over pergolas, old trees and arches to create that cottage garden effect.
The Health Benefits of Sourdough Bread
Did you know that sourdough breads are known to be a healthy alternative to regular brown bread? Our friends in Arbutus Artisan Breads have researched the health benefits of sourdough and have come up with some rather interesting information!
Sourdough bread is leavened by a starter that contains natural yeasts and acids. The airbourne yeast creates the enzymes needed to eat up or predigest some of the toughest-on-your-belly parts of the grain. This action creates carbon dioxide which gets trapped in tiny pockets of dough, resulting in a natural rising of the bread.
