White Soda Bread

This recipe for white soda bread is delicious and you can allow yourself to be that little bit adventerous by adding some of your favorite herbs etc. Even more tasty when served up with some soup or seasonal salad!

White Soda Bread Recipe from The Pavilion Garden Centre Cafe

Ingredients

    • 500g plain flour
    • 2tsp bread soda
    • 1tsp salt
    • 400ml buttermilk
    • Cheddar cheese to sprinkle

Optional additions: fresh herbs eg; chives, thyme, parsley, wholegrain mustard, cheddar cheese, spring onions, cracked black pepper

Method

Preheat oven to 160 degrees celcius. Place flour, bread soda & salt into a bowl (add in any of the optional additions at this stage also) chives, parsley and pepper make a lovely combination.

Pour in the buttermilk and mix until it comes together as soft dough. Divide the mix in 2, mould into rounds and place on floured baking tray. Make a cross on top of the dough and add a sprinkle of cheddar cheese on top.

Bake at 160 degrees celcius for 35 minutes.
