Mallow Festival - The Cloud Garden

Mallow Festival - The Cloud Garden

Designed by: Catherine Shiels, Creative Director at The Pavilion

This garden carries a wistful air of romance, gently celebrating texture, form and the soft beauty of seasonal colour. Nestled within a palette of whites and cool blues, the space invites quiet reflection and timeless style.

Cloud-like clusters of blue Hydrangea mopheads create lush borders, while the upright spires of Perovskia ‘Blue Spire’ and pristine white Agapanthus sway gracefully in the breeze. Their movement and height bring a dynamic vertical contrast to the garden’s layered structure.

The delicate tiered branches of a stately wedding cake tree, the Cornus controversa, creates a striking centrepiece of natural architecture and nearby, the flowering Cornus kousa offers subtle drama with its sculptural form.

At ground level, Hosta varieties ‘Patriot’ and ‘Blue Angel’ provide bold, structured foliage, their broad leaves adding texture and richness to shaded corners.Interplanted Libertia offers fresh, grass-like foliage and star-shaped flowers, drawing the eye with their subtle luminescence.

Fragrance drifts on the air from white lilac (Syringa vulgaris) and classic white roses, deepening the sense of calm and sensory richness. This carefully composed haven invites visitors to pause, breathe and immerse themselves in the quiet joy of the natural world.
