A distinctive and beautiful bird with brilliant plumage and crossed beak tip.
This wooden bird is both a design piece and an authentic and detailed representation of the red crossbill. Full of energy and joy, this handcrafted piece is difficult to resist!
Loxia curvirostra, the scientific name, comes from ancient Greek and means "bent to the side". Curviostra means "curved beak".
As the name suggests, the red crossbill has a characteristic crossed beak. This large finch, with its split tail, lives in coniferous forests. The male is brick red, while the female is olive green. They use their specialised beaks to prise out seeds from conifer cones.
DecoBird is Wildlife Gardens' signature series, beautifully handcrafted in timeless Swedish design. This comprehensive family of birds have delicate hand-carved details and expressions that fascinate. The birds are both inspiring design gifts and cherished collectables.
