Ilex aquifolium, our native Irish holly, is a classic evergreen with glossy, dark green spiny leaves and bright red berries on female plants through winter. Slow-growing and dense, it makes a superb wildlife-friendly hedge, screen or specimen tree, giving year-round colour and shelter for birds.

Planted today, a tree will grow with the passing years, change with the seasons and become part of the living landscape around it. As its roots grow deeper and its branches reach higher, it becomes a lasting reminder of a special occasion, a thoughtful gesture or someone dear.

Planting your tree
Choose a spot with plenty of room to grow. Soak the roots in water for 30 minutes before planting. Dig a hole wide enough to spread the roots naturally, ensuring the point where the main roots meet the trunk sits at ground level.
Fill with soil, firm gently and water thoroughly. Add mulch around the base, keeping it clear of the trunk, and water during dry spells for the first two growing seasons.
Bare-root trees should be planted while dormant, generally between November and March. Plant as soon as possible, keeping the roots moist until planting. Avoid planting in frozen or waterlogged ground.

At The Pavilion Garden Centre, we want you to be able to buy with confidence. However, should you wish to return your purchases*, we are happy to offer a full refund** or exchange within 28 days provided there is proof of purchase and it is in a resalable condition. An exchange or credit note will be offered on sale items. We are unable to offer a refund, exchange or credit note on certain products for hygiene and safety reasons.
